“Real clothes for real moments,” said Isabel Marant at the presentation of her secondary line, Isabel Marant Étoile.
It’s a collection close to the designer’s heart, as it’s the basis of her own wardrobe. “Everyone thinks Étoile is the [main line’s] poor sister, but I love it and wear it all the time, with a nice pair of boots. It’s the easy part of the collection that I love to do.”
The house signatures — the silk georgette printed dresses, the men’s jackets and parkas — were revisited. Among the fresh offerings were colored, grommet-studded denim; classic knits with twists like interrupted patterns, paired with mannish pants, and colored embroidered shirts that Marant herself would pair with a sweatshirt for an unexpected twist. “Nothing is over-designed, it’s a lot about how you can be stylish just with a pair of jeans, a jacket and a T-shirt with the right proportions.”
